Easy Tomato Salad

 

There is nothing like serving a fresh tomato salad with your meal. Every season of tomatoes, I make sure I use some fresh tomatoes and savour some tomato salad. The season, the colors, and the refreshing taste of raw tomatoes tossed in basil, oregano and vinegar –  this easy tomato salad is a healthy complement to any of your meals.

I like using different coloured cherry tomatoes for the salad as it makes the salad look more vibrant. You can use any combination of tomatoes as you like and slice them according to your preference. When it comes to seasoning and the salad dressing, we are only using salt and pepper, dried oregano, fresh basil, balsamic vinegar, and Extra virgin olive oil.

 

 

Ingredients you need for easy tomato salad: 

 

Ingredients easy tomato salad

1 Punnet different colored cherry tomatoes

1 Tablespoon dried oregano

2 Tablespoons fresh basil

1 Tablespoon red onions

2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin olive oil

1 Tablespoon Balsamic vinegar

½ Teaspoon salt

¼ Cracked black pepper

 

Instructions for making easy tomato salad 

 

Step 1

Cut all the different colored cherry tomatoes into quarters and layer them on a large flat dinner plate.

Step 2

On the same cutting board, finely chop about a quarter (1 tablespoon) red onion and sprinkle them over the tomatoes.

Step 3

Now take a few basil leaves and cut them with a pair of food scissors or tear them and toss them over the tomatoes and onions.

Cooking tip: Avoid cutting the basil leaves on your cutting board as most of the basil flavor would be left on your cutting board instead of your salad.

Step 4

Sprinkle salt, cracked black pepper and dried oregano. Toss all the ingredients together.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix EV olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Drizzle over the salad. Serve and enjoy!
