Refreshing Summer Fruit Salad Bowl

Refreshing Summer Fruit Salad Bowl

SUMMER FRUIT SALAD BOWL

The past week was hot and all I could think of was refreshing recipes; as a result, today I am sharing summer fruit bowl salad recipe. This summer fruit salad in a way marks an end to our fruits in season recipes and following this, I will share more recipes with Lemons as they will be in season.

You may ask—Do I need a recipe for a fruit salad? Well, to be honest, there is no hard rule when it comes to a fruit salad. Along with our summer fruit salad  “recipe” we have also share some of our tips that will enhance the flavour of your fruit salad.

The beauty with a fruit salad is that you can change the fruit according to what fruits are in season.

Just like our other summer favorites Peach Melba Popsicle and Frozen Berry Tart Recipe, this summer fruit salad will make your hot summer days a whole lot better!

We suggest that you use fresh fruit rather than frozen fruit as when the fruit is frozen the water in the fruit freezes and when it thaws it makes the fruit collapse leaving the texture soggy.

When you cut the fruits, cut them into equal small quarters and layer the fruits into a glass bowl.

The blackberries and raspberries are easy, just leave them uncut.

Cut the strawberries into quarters or to suit the sizes of the other fruits.

A question you might ask is: Should I pit the cherries?

We say yes because we don’t want you to bite the cherry kernels and damage your teeth. Also, for convenience of course!

We used an olive pitter to take the kernels out however, if you don’t have one, you can cut the cherries in half and take out the kernels that way. It is a little bit fiddly, but not impossible.

Then just pop the prepped fruits in the fridge for 30 mins.

To enhance the flavour,  grate the zest of one lemon, lime and an orange. Put the zest in a separate bowl.

Cut each citrus fruit in half and use a hand press if you have to squeeze the juice, then pour the juice into the bowl with lemon zest.

Add the caster sugar into the juice mixture and mix well.

Take the fruit bowl out from the fridge, add the juice mixture and the mint. Stir till everything is well combined.

Serve immediately!
