I thought I would start writing on the blog. It is a little bit scary because I really have no idea what I am going to write about. I have always loved reading books and have always been better at expressing myself in writing rather than speaking. Since I do not know what I am going to write about it felt like a good way to start to write about the things I do know.
For dinner tonight we had spinach and ricotta ravioli in a plain Napoli sauce with parmesan cheese. I made a salad with crispy cos lettuce, cherry tomatoes, mini cucumbers, spring onions, roasted peppers and pickled chillies. It was a tasty simple meal. Since COVID hit and we are spending so much more time at home, our focus has shifted for me and my family. We are four people in the household and dinner time has now become the most important part of the day. We sit down together as a family. We always start with a gratitude where each member of the household gets to say something good that has happened in their day. Some days this is really easy and other days you may need to dig a little deeper. Some nights we laugh and have a lot of fun however, some days in these unprecedented times, we talk about more serious matters.
A lot more attention is also made towards the food and the ingredients. We buy a lot of our products from a local supermarket that has been rated the best deli in Australia. Both me and Italo really love to shop there. For italo, it does bring him back to his childhood, his parents used to own a supermarket, also that it is a family run business where the owner of the business always greets his customers. This shop has amazing produce which for me and Italo gives it a big tick. For me it also reminds me of when I was a little girl and went food shopping with my Mum and Grandmother on special occasions. Another thing I really like about this shop is that there is always a staff member handy to ask where you can find this and that they have a lot of knowledge about the products.
